ERD Drilling engineer
Job description
The island Drilling ERD Engineer is responsible for the planning and design of the ERD/MRC wells on the artificial islands. responsibilities also include special projects related to islands operations.
Minimum requirements:
Degree in relevant Engineering discipline such as petroleum or Mechanical
Minimum 7 years drilling experience and knowledge
computing skills including Ms office
Knowledge of Drilling information Management System (DIMS)
Safety training
Drilling Engineering school
ERD drilling school (K&M or equivament)
Minimum Requirements (continued):
Casing Design
Fundamental is casing flotation technique
Drilling Fluids technology
Wellbore Stability for ERD drilling
Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient technology
Drill String Design/Torque and Drag Modeling for ERD wells
ERD/Directional drilling
Bit design and Hydraulics
Good understanding of drillstring vibrations and mitigation's
Understanding of key ROP limiters in ERD wells.
Hole Cleaning and ECD behavior in ERD wells
Drilling Problem Solving (Lost returns, Stuck Pipe, Hole Instability)
Well control
Blowout Prevention Equipment and Testing
Basic Open hole and cased Hole Logging
Risk Assessment
Fundamental Geology
Fundamental reservoir Engineering
Technical Writing
Independence of operations and Decision.making Authority:
Responsible for ensuring drilling programs and cost estimates are provided in a timely manner
Decides priorities in new ideas and technology and provide expertise in the function area to achieve required performance standards
Organizational Relationship (Work Contacts):
Contact with other Well Operations Sections and Groups (Teams), principally the Drilling and Completions Operations Section, on a daily basis ensure provision of drilling programs and cost estimates.
Contact with service Companies when necessary
ERD Drilling Specialist
The Islands Drilling ERD Engineering Specialist will act as the technical champion to guide and assist the drilling and completion engineers in the design and process of implementing ERD technology for the Island ERD project.
Minimum Requirement:
Degree in relevant Engineering discipline such as petroleum or Mechanical
Minimum 10 years experience and knowledge of drilling engineering functions.
Minimum 5 years experience in work related to extended-reach or high angle drilling activities.
Computing skills including Ms Office
Knowledge of drilling software applications
Prior work experience as ERD Drilling Specialist (Desired)
ERD drilling school (k&M or equivalent)
Leadership training
Able to demonstrate proficient level in the following skillls:
- ERD casing and tubing design
- Good understanding of ERD/MRC completion techniques and technology
- Design & Execution of casing flotation technique
- Drilling Fluids Technology (water Base, Oil base and Drill-in fluids)
- High angle Cementing technology
- Wellbore Stability (Clear understanding of surge & swab implications on wellbore stability and well control for ERD wells)
- Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient Technology
- Drill String Design/Torque and Drag Modeling for ERD wells (Clear understanding of buckling and torque behaviors in ERD wells)
- ERD/ directional Drilling and ERD anti-collision analysis and avoidance
- Bit Design and Hydraulics
- Good understanding off drill string vibrations and mitigation's
- Understanding of key ROIP limiters in ERD wells
- Hole Cleaning and ECD behavior in ERD wells
- Drilling Problem Solving (Lost returns, Stuck Pipe, Hole Instability)
- Drill String Inspection for ERD Applications
- Open hole and Cased Hole logging including coil tubing deployment
- Ability to lead Risk Assessment Teams
- Fundamental Geology
- Fundamental Reservoir Engineering
- Advanced Technical Writing

Participate along with drilling engineer in meetings held with other disciplines as part of the well delivery process.
Contact with other Drilling Sections and Groups (Teams), principally the Drilling and Completions Operations and technology Sections on a daily basis to ensure technical sounded solutions are achived
Contacts with Service Companies when necessary
